Hi Una, first things first; tell us about your new show, Chasing The Saturdays?

“Well, it was an idea we’d had for about two years. We’d done a couple of smaller TV shows in the UK, but it had always been our ambition to do something in America. We could see how well pop music was doing in the States, so last year we took a trip to LA and pitched the idea to a number of different TV stations. One of them was E!, which was also the one we hoped would go for it. We were thrilled when they said they’d pick it up.”

What’s your top tip for keeping long distance love alive?

“I guess it was a little easier for us because before we got married that’s just the way our relationship was. When I first met Ben, he’d go away on summer tours and would be away for weeks on end and I’d be left at home. Sure, during the World Cup he was away for nine weeks and I was pregnant at the time. We’re used to distance and time apart, but I think in a way it works for us. Or rather, we make it work for us the best way we can. We’re the type of couple that thinks absence makes the heart grow fonder and we have huge trust in each other. I always get really excited when I see him, and we keep in touch all the time with Skype. When we’re together and we haven’t seen each other in a while, it’s like we’ve never left each other’s side. That’s how it is for us – he understands what I do and I understand what he does.”

So, he’s supportive?

“Unbelievably so. Someone else who might not understand the situation might have made it a lot more difficult for me to make the decision, but Ben was so encouraging. He was like, ‘This is a huge opportunity, you’ve been working on it a long time, you can’t plan these things and it’s never a perfect time to go away’. It’s just the nature of the business and you need to grab these opportunities when they come along. I actually don’t think I could have done it without him. I’m very, very lucky.”

How has life changed for you in the past year?

“It’s completely transformed. Aoife is my priority, my whole life revolves around her and I’m constantly thinking about her. She’s totally changed me for the best and I wouldn’t swap her for the world. I can’t imagine my life without Aoife, or even remember what my life was like before she came along. I feel like I’m really living life now that I’ve got this little creation and the fact that I’ve created it with the person I love is the nicest thing.”

Do you ever feel competitive with the girls in the group?

“Oh no, not at all. We had our hair and make-up people come with us to LA and during the show I’d sometimes wake up and couldn’t think of anything worse than sitting in a make-up chair for hours so I’d do my own make-up. But then I looked back at some of the clips from the show and I was like, ‘Oh God, maybe I should have worn a bit more make-up, I look a bit rough there’. That’s the thing when you have a baby, your priorities change; you’d rather spend the mornings with them and bond with them than sit in chair having your make-up done. I don’t put pressure on myself to look perfect all the time – I’d rather spend that time with Aoife.”

When do you feel your sexiest?

“Oh gosh, I supposed when I’m with Ben (laughs). When we have our alone time, wherever that is, I don’t wear a lot of make-up or anything. He’s actually very complimentary when I have no make-up on. I think a lot of men are like that: they say they love you when you’re just you and you haven’t got the fake eyelashes on and the hair extensions in. I think he prefers me when I’m a bit more natural. Well, that’s what he tells me anyway…”

3. To enter, entrants must complete the official entry form from the April issue of Stellar magazine, explaining in no more than 50 words why they deserve to participate in the photoshoot and upload a recent colour photo.

11. 5 winners selected by the judging panel against the criteria contained in paragraph 9 above will each win a makeover on 3rd of April from 9am to 5pm in a salon in Dublin city centre. The winners must make their own way to the Dublin City Centre location. The winners will each receive a free make-over (including hair styling, make-up, clothes styling) and will then participate in a photo shoot which will appear in Stellar magazine.

12. The 5 prize-winners will be contacted by phone and/or email on Monday the 25^th of March and must claim their prize within 3 days. If a winner does not claim their prize within 3 days of being notified, they will forfeit the prize. In the event that a winner does not claim their prize within the specified time, another winner will be chosen in their place based on the criteria described above in paragraph 9.

13. Stellar and Garnier hold no responsibility if entry details are missing or incorrect.

14. The Promoters’ decision on the 5 prize-winners is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Entries that do not comply in full with these rules will be disqualified.

15. The prizes are as stated and no cash alternatives will be offered.

16. The Promoters reserve the right to alter, amend or end any competition without prior notice in the event that circumstances make this unavoidable.
